There was speculation surrounding Aaron Donald possibly skipping minicamp for the Los Angeles Rams due to his contract situation.

After missing organization team activities with the Los Angeles Rams, there was some concern over the possibility of Aaron Donald skipping minicamp this week, which is mandatory for all players. Tuesday afternoon marked the first day of minicamp for the Rams, as they look to improve from last year’s 4-12 finish, and believe it or not, Donald was in attendance.

Whether Donald would show up for the first day on Tuesday was one of the most debated topics at the beginning of the week since the defensive superstar skipped OTAs due to wanting a new long-term deal from the organization. Even though a deal isn’t in place at the moment, at least Donald doesn’t have to worry about losing money in fines due to not showing up for practice with his teammates.

As for when Les Snead will finally reward Donald with the new contract he clearly deserves based off the high level of impact he’s made in just three seasons. Not only did Donald finish at the top of the league in 2016 with 31 quarterback hits despite receiving extra attention from defenders, but over the previous two seasons, he’s also recorded 161 total pressures.

In other words, Los Angeles needs to do put all of this stalling to rest, and focus on reaching a new deal with Donald to avoid him being unhappy with the organization down the road. Believe it or not, there are plenty of football fans who strongly believe Donald deserves to make J.J. Watt kind of money, and it’s tough to argue against that belief when seeing how quickly he’s become one of the biggest defensive threats in the league.
