Reality TV allows Jeff Fisher to cast a long shadow over Rams

Reality TV keeps former head coach Jeff Fisher alive and well in the mind of Rams fans.

Los Angeles Rams fans have so much to look forward to this coming NFL season. That said, a long shadow continues  be cast over this organization: former head coach Jeff Fisher.

Because of reality TV, fans can be provided with a constant reminder of the former and how his remarkably undistinguished career finally ebbed in Los Angeles.

Thanks to NFL Films, we can watch, ad nauseum, Fisher both clearly disheveled and out of a job, advise his staff of his employment status. The moment captures both disbelief and shock.

Seriously?

Like an abusive relationship, the coaches in the room, and the team’s reaction as a whole, completely discount, if not outright ignore three critical numbers: 31, 45, and 1.

That’s his record as head coach of the Rams.

How do you ignore and react with disbelief at a record of 31-45-1? It’s an alternate reality where both logic and common sense take a backseat to faux-shock and awe when the facts present themselves.

Hey guys, the facts don’t care about your feelings.

Let me me clear, despite Fisher being fired, he was on to something keeping Case Keenum in the lineup. It made sense. I’d bet Fisher knew switching to Goff was probably an admonition that Keenum  was no less a disaster than Goff.

Except one was a number 1 overall draft pick, and the other from the University of Houston.
