Michael Brockers chimed in on the contract situation involving Aaron Donald and the Los Angeles Rams during a recent interview.

Most Los Angeles Rams fans have to be tired by now when it comes to the daily updates surrounding Aaron Donald‘s contract situation with the organization since many believe the defensive superstar could end up holding out from training camp. It’s only been three seasons, but Donald has already proven he deserves consideration for being the league’s highest defensive player when looking at the kind of money other players are making across the league.

For the most part, members of the Rams, including the coaching staff, seem to have done everything in their power to avoid getting into details over Donald’s situation, mainly due to the face they didn’t want to add any fuel to the fire, which is fair. But when Donald’s teammate, Michael Brockers, was recently asked about his opinion regarding the situation, the defensive tackle made it clear that Los Angeles needs to open up their checkbooks.

During a recent interview with The Opening Drive (via SiriusXM), Brockers made it clear that he will fully support any decision Donald makes when it comes to showing up for training camp, mainly because he clearly deserves a major pay raise. Here’s part of what Brockers had to say about Donald’s situation courtesy of SiriusXM:

"“At the end of the day, that’s our brother,” Brockers told Ross Tucker and Torry Holt on The Opening Drive. “We’ll go to war with him and for him. We respect any decision. He deserves it. You look at the record, being the most dominant defensive tackle in the league, and he’s just making all these phenomenal numbers and stuff like that. And, obviously, pay the man. Obviously. He’s put in him some major work for this team and I think he deserves it.”"

From leading the league in quarterback hits last year (31) despite all of the extra attention received from opponents to recording 28 sacks over the last three seasons, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize Donald deserves a new contract from the Rams. If anything, one would hope Los Angeles would be smart enough to realize they can’t afford to hesitate with this situation since it would be a shame to see Donald’s frustration carry over to the regular season if a new deal isn’t in place.

Believe it or not, there’s actually some excitement surrounding the Rams heading into training camp thanks to a new coaching staff led by Sean McVay along with key additions on both sides of the football. But if Donald is absent from the start of training camp due to this contract situation, it’s safe to say Brockers and the rest of his Los Angeles teammates could end up feeling frustration as well since the organization clearly knows what needs to be done, which is pay the defensive standout.
