For Rams QB Jared Goff, time to let his work stand on its own
By Steve Rivera
With camp getting under way for the Los Angeles Rams, quarterback Jared Goff can finally be judged for what he does on the field now, and less about last season.
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff is exactly where he should be.
Finally.

After an 0-7 record, an offseason to learn a new offense, a coach who likes to throw the ball down field, and a draft loaded with targets, Goff gets his wish: his team, his chance.
It’ll be the only one he gets.
I’m ready too.
I’m ready to watch and see what he can do. Ready for an offense not tied to an antiquated system helmed by Jeff Fisher and the underwhelming Rob Boras. Ready for the big arm, and the validation of game tape from Cal and every practice session where coaches gushed over a big throw.
Show me something.
Show me why I should trust you. Show me the game where you finally break out.
Show me why Sean Mannion is NOT the starter, and why Kirk Cousins shouldn’t wear a Rams jersey in 2018?
I’m ready Jared. I’m your guy, so show me something. Anything.
Give me a reason because I’m ready. I’m ready to embrace the trade, AND the pick. Just prove me wrong.
Bottom line, the ball is in your court, so earn this Jared.
Be “the guy.” Make us all eat our words. I’ve been pointed in my criticism, and i’d love to see you make me walk every word and thought back.
But it’s on you, not me.
So, leave no doubt. Earn this job outright. Leave ZERO daylight between you and idea that maybe, MAYBE, Mannion or someone else should be under center.
But it’s on you, not me. I’ll keep an open mind, so WOW me.
I’ll be waiting.
So is Los Angeles and the rest of the NFL.

Whatever happens from here is all on Jared. Succeed, and own the city of Los Angeles. Fail, and feel the bitter sting of many a top pick who never measured up. Either way, he’ll get his shot, and he’ll have to live with whatever the outcome.
So will Rams fans.
The NFL is equitable that way. For better and for worse.
