According to Richard Sherman, the Los Angeles Rams would be better off with Colin Kaepernick over Jared Goff at quarterback.

As the Los Angeles Rams continue to deal with issues on the defensive side of the football ranging from Aaron Donald‘s holdout to Dominique Easley‘s torn ACL, the one story the team continues to hear about involves one of their former division rivals, Colin Kaepernick. After parting ways with the San Francisco 49ers during the offseason, Kaepernick is somehow still in search of a new home for the 2017 NFL season, which is kind of ridiculous when seeing some of the other backup quarterbacks across the league who somehow have jobs.

Obviously, the main topic of debate surrounding Kaepernick not having a job seems to be due to whether teams are afraid to bring him on board after all of the protesting controversy from a year ago. But from a talent perspective, it shouldn’t even be a debate that Kaepernick deserves to be on at least a few different rosters when looking at their quarterback situation.

In fact, according to Richard Sherman, the Seattle Seahawks cornerback immediately thought of a few teams during a recent interview with USA Today that he believes Kaepernick would be a better starter on, including the Los Angeles Rams. Here’s what Sherman had to say about some of the quarterbacks who don’t measure up to Kaepernick, courtesy of USA Today:

"Sherman cited a few examples, including the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Blake Bortles and the Los Angeles Rams’ Jared Goff, as starters that don’t measure up to Kaepernick.“Blake Bortles has shown you enough to where you don’t think Kaep would be a solid fit?” Sherman added. “Kaep has won games.”"

It’s easy to throw someone like Jared Goff under the bus so fast when considering he’s entering his sophomore season with the Rams still in search of his first win as a starter (0-7). But in Goff’s defense, Los Angeles didn’t really do the best of job during his rookie season when it came to protection from the offensive line along with a weak receiving corps.

Even if the Rams ended up deciding to go with Kaepernick for the 2017 NFL season, a decision like this would only hold Goff’s development process back, and delay him from hitting the elite level they hope to see him at one day. Just like everyone else in the NFL, Sherman is always welcome to chime in on his opinion regarding the Kaepernick situation, but to say he would be a better option as the starter for the Rams over Goff at the moment seems a bit ridiculous, especially when seeing how quickly he’s been learning Sean McVay‘s new offense.
