Cooper Kupp listed as starter for Rams in first release of depth chart

Third-round pick Cooper Kupp is already making an immediate impact on offense for the Los Angeles Rams heading into preseason.
One of the top priorities for the Los Angeles Rams heading into the offseason was to bring on additional weapons for Jared Goff heading into his sophomore season as the starter. In the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Rams happened to land one of the most underrated receivers from this year’s class in Cooper Kupp, and based off how he’s looked so far in training camp, the former Eastern Washington standout could turnout to be a major steal.

Coming from a smaller school can always be a difficult challenge for players when it comes to making the leap to the NFL, but when looking at how productive Kupp was during his time with the Eagles, the wideout was simply too good to pass up on. Any player who records 428 catches for 6,464 yards to go along with 73 touchdowns in a four-year span is clearly special, and Kupp’s impact in training camp has already earned him a starting nod at the moment heading into the first preseason game for Los Angeles.
After the Rams ranked dead last in the NFL during the 2016 season by only averaging 14 points per game, it was clear the only way the team was going to get the best out of Goff would be focusing on improving the receiving corps. And even though the preseason has yet to officially start, early signs point to Kupp quickly becoming one of Goff’s new favorite targets based off how the two have looked in camp so far.

Los Angeles may have rewarded Tavon Austin with a hefty extension last year with the intention of making him the No. 1 option in the passing game, but it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see Kupp eventually take over that role. Obviously, Kupp still has a lot to prove since he hasn’t even officially suited up for a game yet, but it’s tough for Rams fans to contain their excitement when considering how long they’ve been waiting for the team to have a dynamic receiver like this.
