2017 NFL Power Rankings: Where do Los Angeles Rams stand heading into Week 1 preseason?
By Dan Parzych
22. Washington Redskins
After losing two of their top receivers from a year ago to free agency in DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon, nobody seems to know what’s in store for the Washington Redskins when looking at all of the drama surrounding this team over the last few months. Replacing receivers is a little bit easier than replacing a franchise quarterback, and if the Redskins aren’t careful, they could be starting from scratch next offseason if Kirk Cousins remains unhappy with the organization.
For whatever reason, Washington still isn’t convinced that Cousins is the quarterback they want to build the franchise around after placing the franchise tag on him in each of the last two seasons. Instead of spending all of that hefty money with the tag, the Redskins would be much better off just paying Cousins the money he clearly deserves, and depending on what happens next year, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the quarterback considered leaving to play for someone else if he hits free agency.
Whether that means Cousins would possibly reunite with Sean McVay as a member of the Los Angeles Rams, anything seems possible at this point. The rumors surrounding this reunion have been going on for months, but clearly the big factor on the chances of this happening depend on how Jared Goff performs for the Rams during his sophomore season.
