2017 NFL Power Rankings: Where do Los Angeles Rams stand heading into Week 1 preseason?
By Dan Parzych
31. Cleveland Browns
Remember a few months ago when the Cleveland Browns were expected to just release Brock Osweiler since all they really wanted from the Houston Texans was that second-round pick? All of a sudden, Osweiler could end up being the top quarterback for the Browns this year after Hue Jackson listed him as the starter for the first preseason game against the New Orleans Saints.
Obviously, there’s a ton of pressure on Osweiler’s end to succeed in the preseason when looking at the ridiculous contract he’s currently playing under, but the money won’t matter on Cleveland’s end if he finally gives the team a reliable quarterback. Then again, this is the same player who failed to record more touchdowns than interceptions while playing with reliable weapons in Houston a year ago, so it’s going to be an interesting next couple of weeks for Osweiler.
Normally, the Browns enter a new season with low expectations like the year before, but believe it or not, this team finally seems to be moving in the right direction after earning respect for being one of the big winners of the offseason. Along with the changes made on offense, expectations are high for No. 1 pick Myles Garrett wasting no time making an immediate impact for Cleveland’s defense.
