2017 NFL Power Rankings: Where do Los Angeles Rams stand heading into Week 1 preseason?
By Dan Parzych
25. Buffalo Bills
Give the Buffalo Bills credit for figuring out a way to restructure the contract of Tyrod Taylor this offseason since paying him all that money to play quarterback would have been absolutely ridiculous. The verdict is still out on whether Taylor is the right answer for the Bills at quarterback, but at least the potential is certainly there to give him another chance during the 2017 season.
Taylor’s ability to be a duel threat as a runner sets him apart from some of the other quarterbacks in the league, and even though he benefited from having a reliable running back in LeSean McCoy, his group of receivers clearly needed work. The fact that Robert Woods, who signed with the Los Angeles Rams in free agency, led the team in receiving yards (613) last season is the perfect example of how much Taylor needed help in the passing game.
With that being said, Buffalo hopes to see Sammy Watkins, even if he can remain healthy, finally become the effective and consistent wide receiver they’ve been waiting for after years of being a disappointment. If that does happen, the Bills’ offense may end up being in better shape than originally thought to give them a better chance of competing in the AFC.
