Los Angeles Rams interested in signing Sammy Watkins to long-term deal?

It looks like the Los Angeles Rams may already be interested in locking up Sammy Watkins for the long run.
On Friday, the Los Angeles Rams pulled off one of the biggest surprises from the first week of the 2017 NFL preseason by acquiring Sammy Watkins in a deal that included E.J. Gaines being sent to the Buffalo Bills. Losing a cornerback like Gaines was a tough pill to swallow, but with Watkins on board, the Rams hope to finally have that dangerous No. 1 wide receiver they’ve spent years waiting for.

Los Angeles entered the offseason with the intention of bringing on better playmakers for Jared Goff to work with in the passing game, and even though Watkins still has a lot to prove, there’s every reason in the world to be thrilled over this potential duo. In fact, it appears the Rams may not even be wasting much time when it comes to making sure this duo in Goff and Watkins is around for years to come.
Keep in mind the important factor pointed out by Adam Schefter is a deal hasn’t even been discussed yet by the two parties, but at least it’s good to see Les Snead expressing interest in a long-term deal for Watkins. Even if this move seems like a risk due to the health concerns surrounding Watkins, this seems like a risk worth taking for Los Angeles if they truly want to see Goff and the offense make the necessary leap this season to become contenders in the NFC.

Buffalo may have given up on Watkins after three years of frustration, but let’s not forget the former Clemson standout was the fourth overall pick for a reason back in 2014. If Watkins can use his speed to become the deep threat new head coach Sean McVay has been looking for, the sky could be the limit for the Rams’ offense in 2017.
