2017 NFL Power Rankings Preseason Week 2: Los Angeles Rams take major step forward
By Dan Parzych
23. Los Angeles Rams (27)
As mentioned at the beginning, the Los Angeles Rams entered the offseason with the intention of adding more weapons for Jared Goff to work with, and while they certainly did so during free agency along with the NFL Draft, nothing tops the big trade that was made on Friday. Bringing a deep threat like Sammy Watkins on board is going to make a major difference for Goff in the passing game, and while the Buffalo Bills were frustrated over his health issues, this was simply a risk the Rams couldn’t afford to pass on.

Think about where Los Angeles was on offense at this time last year when Tavon Austin and Kenny Britt were considered their top two players at wide receiver to where the unit is now. Along with the addition of Watkins, the Rams have high expectations for first-year wideout Cooper Kupp, as many believe the former Eastern Washington standout could end up being one of the biggest steals from this year’s draft class.
Kupp wasted no time making an impact in his first preseason action by acting like a veteran on a key heads-up play when he recovered a fumble from Robert Woods in the end zone for a touchdown. All of a sudden, this Rams’ offense looks like they’re going to be a lot of fun to watch during Goff’s sophomore season if the quarterback can take advantage of the new toys he has to work with.
