2017 NFL Power Rankings Preseason Week 2: Los Angeles Rams take major step forward

18. Arizona Cardinals (18)
Kurt Warner described the Arizona Cardinals best the other day when discussing how “hungry” this team for the 2017 NFL season to get underway after all of the disappointment suffered last year. Heading into last season, the Cardinals were considered one of the favorites in the NFC after reaching the championship game the year before, but unfortunately this team failed to overcome a poor start and finished the season with a losing record.
This time around, Arizona is in a similar situation where the talent is certainly there to make a return to being contenders, and there’s nothing they would love more than to make a serious run at the Super Bowl before time runs out on Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald‘s career. Watching this duo still dominant even at their age is simply amazing for the Cardinals, and the crazy thing is they still seem to have at least another good two or three years left in the old tank.
Plus, Arizona has found a gem of a running back in David Johnson when seeing how quickly he’s emerged as one of the top players in the league during such a short period of time. After recording more than 2,000 yards from the line of scrimmage last year, don’t be surprised if Johnson displays similar numbers during his third season with the team.
