2017 NFL Power Rankings Preseason Week 2: Los Angeles Rams take major step forward
By Dan Parzych
29. Jacksonville Jaguars (28)
Apparently, rookie running back Leonard Fournette is dealing with a foot injury that Doug Marrone claims the Jacksonville Jaguars need to be extra careful with, which is the last thing the team wants to hear after just one preseason game. But if the Jaguars monitor the injury properly, the former LSU star will hopefully be ready to go when it matters the most in the regular season a few weeks from now.
Of course, when it comes to the biggest concern surrounding Jacksonville, all eyes will be on Blake Bortles to see if the quarterback finally begins playing like the leader this team has been waiting years to see. Don’t be fooled by some of the impressive numbers Bortles has displayed over the last two years since everyone knows most of those came during garbage time when the Jaguars basically already lost.
Borltes was already fortunate enough to work with an impressive duo in Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns, but now that he finally has an effective running back to work with in Fournette unlike other years, the excuses are going to be tough to defend if the struggles continue. Jacksonville made an interesting decision in the offseason after picking up Bortles’ fifth-year option, and only time will determine if it was the right move.
