The Los Angeles Rams released their latest depth chart heading into their second game of the 2017 NFL preseason against the Oakland Raiders.

What a week it’s been for the Los Angeles Rams between pulling off a win against the Dallas Cowboys last Saturday to the surprise trade of acquiring Sammy Watkins from the Buffalo Bills. All of a sudden, the current depth chart for the Rams has gotten a little more interesting for the team heading into their second game of the preseason against the Oakland Raiders on Saturday.

Last week, one of the biggest discussions surrounding the depth chart for Los Angeles was how Aaron Donald‘s name was absent from the list due to his holdout since the defensive superstar technically isn’t active at the moment since he’s yet to participate. This time around, the addition of Watkins is the latest story, although he’s certainly going to move up on the chart once he becomes more comfortable with the offense.

Heading into the offseason, the Rams understood that building a better offense around Jared Goff was a top priority, and while they certainly made a splash in free agency with Robert Woods along with the selection of Cooper Kupp in the 2017 NFL Draft, nothing compares to Watkins. By bringing Watkins on board as a reliable No. 1 wideout, Goff will finally have that dangerous deep threat to work with to hopefully finally bring out the best in the second-year quarterback.

Fans can say what they want about the concerns surrounding Watkins, and his inability to stay healthy because according to the wideout, that’s not going to be an issue. At the end of the day, this was a risk Los Angeles needed to take with Watkins to provide the offense with a much-needed boost to the passing game for Goff to work with.
