5 reasons Jared Goff could become dark horse MVP candidate for Los Angeles Rams

3. Kupp already looks like a star
Entering the 2017 NFL Draft, it was clear the Los Angeles Rams would focus on bringing a rookie wide receiver on board to provide Jared Goff another weapon to work with in the passing game since he didn’t really have much to work with as a rookie. In the third round, the Rams selected former Eastern Washington standout Cooper Kupp, and even though it’s way too early to jump to conclusions, this could turnout to be one of the biggest steals of the mid rounds.
After seeing the young wideout finish his career with the Eagles by catching 428 passes for 6,464 yards to go along with 73 touchdowns, most teams avoided Kupp due to the fact that he played at a smaller school in Eastern Washington. But based off the production on Kupp’s end from the first two preseason games (two touchdowns in two games), there’s a good chance he turns out to be one of Goff’s favorite targets to work with.
If that is in fact the case, don’t be surprised if Kupp ends up in the range of catching 70-80 passes as a rookie while becoming one of the toughest players to defend in the slot. Los Angeles may have failed to provide Goff with the necessary weapons to succeed as a rookie, but thanks to key additions of new potential stars like Kupp, the Rams quarterback will be in much better shape this time around.
