3. Can Sammy Watkins make an impact?

Between the signing of Robert Woods in free agency to the selection of Cooper Kupp in the NFL Draft, there was already plenty of excitement surrounding the improved receiving corps for the Los Angeles Rams heading into their second year with Jared Goff under center. But when the Rams pulled off the unexpected trade with the Buffalo Bills to bring Sammy Watkins on board, all of those expectations were taken to a whole new level.

All of a sudden, Goff had something that was clearly missing from the passing game during his rookie campaign, which was a reliable deep threat in Watkins to work with. Obviously, the duo still have a ton to work on since Watkins is still kind of catching up when it comes to learning the Rams’ offense, but Saturday night’s preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers is the perfect opportunity for the wideout to make more of an impact.

Watkins only caught two passes for eight yards last weekend against the Oakland Raiders, but the opportunity to make a few additional plays was certainly there. Hopefully, the results will be different this time around for Watkins to make the Rams feel more confident about their new deep threat heading into Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts.
