5. Rams have tough decision with Spruce

Dating back to last preseason, Nelson Spruce has been a big fan favorite for the Los Angeles Rams after emerging out of nowhere with a stellar performance against the Dallas Cowboys, but the wideout has unfortunately found problems with trying to escape the injury bug. Even though the Rams were willing to give Spruce one of the roster spots last year despite only one appearance in the preseason, the chances of the team doing that again this year seem highly unlikely.

Really, it’s a shame to see Nelson deal with so many injuries over the last two seasons when considering he even started this preseason off on a hot note with six catches against the Cowboys before seeing limited action against the Oakland Raiders the following week. In fact, the last two weeks have been beyond frustrating for Spruce after being inactive against the Los Angeles Chargers along with missing significant practice time.

It would be one thing if the Rams could afford to risk giving Spruce one of the roster spots at wideouts, but the main issue is this unit has too much talent to work with that would be a shame to pass up on over an unproven player during the regular season. As painful as it is for Los Angeles fans to hear, it’s not looking good for Spruce heading into the final day of roster cuts, and it’s a shame the wideout couldn’t play against the Green Bay Packers to make a stronger case.
