3. Shippen finishes preseason on strong note

Entering this game, Brandon Shippen knew it was going to be a long shot to earn a spot on the 53-man roster for the Los Angeles Rams when looking at the six or seven receivers ahead of him that seem to be a lock. However, thanks to Shippen’s play over the course of the preseason, it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see the Rams add the former Temple wideout to the practice squad.

During the final preseason game against the Green Bay Packers, Shippen led the way for Los Angeles in the passing game after catching seven of eight passes thrown his way for 58 yards. And while these numbers may not seem like the most impressive for an NFL wide receiver, keep in mind Shippen’s final statistics most likely would have been much better if he was working with Jared Goff or Sean Mannion at quarterback.

For a former undrafted free agent that made the transition from cornerback to receiver during his final two years with the Owls, Shippen deserves plenty of credit for coming this far with the Rams. And who knows, maybe if Los Angeles ends up giving up a spot on the practice squad, Shippen will get called up at some point during the regular season.
