Los Angeles Rams 2017: 5 surprise cuts from 53-man roster
By Dan Parzych
4. Aaron Green
At the beginning of training camp, Aaron Green was considered one of the running backs expected to compete for the No. 3 job behind Todd Gurley and Malcolm Brown, especially when looking at some of the potential he displayed around this time last year. Even with Lance Dunbar dealing with an injury, Green’s chances to earn a spot on the roster seemed to increase, that is until Justin Davis came into the picture.
The former USC star has seen some bumps at times during the preseason, but Los Angeles recently hinted that Davis seemed to be a lock for one of the roster spots, which made the situation tougher on Green. Not to mention, it didn’t help Green’s case that he only recorded 12 rushing yards on seven carries during the preseason finale against the Green Bay Packers.
Once again, Green seems to be another candidate who could easily end up on the practice squad for the Rams when it’s all said and done. Still, from his perspective, the running back has to be frustrated with himself over falling short of making the roster since his chances seemed to be high a few weeks ago before Davis worked his way up to the No. 3 job.
