5. Jared Goff

Despite throwing a costly interception at the end of last Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins, Jared Goff deserves some credit for the way he’s developed over the last few months learning Sean McVay‘s offense. One of the main reasons why the Los Angeles Rams were sold on McVay as head coach was due to his history of developing quarterbacks, mainly what he was able to accomplish in the previous two seasons with Kirk Cousins as a member of the Washington Redskins.

Through two games, Goff’s numbers haven’t been all that terrible for the Rams at quarterback, but there’s clearly room for improvement since he’s only managed to complete two touchdown passes in two games. And even though he was tested quite a bit against the Indianapolis Colts along with the Redskins, the San Francisco 49ers may give Goff his most difficult challenge to date this season when seeing how well the unit has been at keeping quarterbacks in line.

Just look how well the 49ers recently played on the road against the Seattle Seahawks, and it’s easy to understand why some would seem concerned towards playing Goff. But when seeing the young group of talented receivers the Rams have provided him to work with, maybe Goff will end up performing better than expected in Week 3.
