GLENDALE, AZ – OCTOBER 15: Running back Adrian Peterson

Imagine if Leonard Fournette had Carson Palmer instead of Blake Bortles?

Hey, even an over the hill Palmer is better.

On Sunday, the aforementioned quarterback of the Arizona Cardinals has veteran running back Adrian Peterson in his backfield, and that may be an equation changer when they play the Rams in London.

Peterson lit up the Tampa defense for 134 yards on 26 carries, and for good measure and a reminder of who he is or was, had 54 yards and a touchdown on his first four touches of the football.

Sound familiar to the Rams defense in Week 6 against a Jacksonville rookie running back?

The Los Angeles defense looked relatively shaky for a little over a quarter of football against the Jags. But give defensive coordinator Wade Phillips credit for making adjustments. After the initial explosion by Fournette, the Rams effectively shuttered the rookie and the Jacksonville offense.

Peterson may be a game and season changer for the Cardinals, but one good game against the Bucs doesn’t make that so. The flaw in that thinking is that with better than half the season to go, that injuries don’t derail a plan that has Larry Fitzgerald, Palmer, and AP at key positions staying upright for 10 games.

Look for the Arizona offense to have a good day on Sunday, as Peterson continues to play with a huge chip on his shoulder.
