With the Los Angeles Rams beating the Arizona Cardinals 33-0, the NFC West is now just a two-team race between LA, and the Seattle Seahawks.

The Los Angeles Rams tosses a shutout today for the first time since the 2014 season, as they clobbered the Arizona Cardinals 33-0. The game, played in London, has effectively reduced the NFC West to a two team race. As news continues to break about quarterback Carson Palmer possibly being out for eight weeks after breaking his left arm, it’s hard to imagine a challenge coming from anyone else in the division.

So, as Week 7 closes for LA, the Rams head into the bye week with a 5-2 record overall, and 2-1 in the West. Already, Los Angeles is one game over their entire win total for 2016, and as they won’t play again in October, they’ll open November with a lot of opportunity in front of them.

Complement the Rams for taking care of business through seven games. Road wins in San Francisco , Dallas, Jacksonville, and now against the Cardinals in London, have LA in position to contend with Seattle. Despite the loss to the Seahawks in Week 5, Los Angeles has proven they can win on the road.

But as things currently stand, the top of the division won’t be affected much by the two teams on the bottom. The 49ers, as of this post, are still winless, facing Dallas today at home. As for Arizona, the team is now without their veteran quarterback, and for all the world today, looked lifeless after a close, if not explosive win just a week ago against Tampa.

Make no mistake, the Rams still have a ton of work to do. They head to New York after the bye to play the Giants, come home to play Houston, travel to Minneesota, and will host New Orleans all before December or another divisional game.

In the five games to close out the season, they’ll play road games in Arizona and Seattle, before wrapping up against San Francisco on New Year’s Eve.
