The New York Giants are 1-6 for a reason, and the Los Angeles Rams defense will remind you why in Week 9.

Quietly, or maybe not so quietly, Aaron Donald and the LA defense gets further away from the disaster they were early on.

Bottom line, don’t expect the type of shootout we all saw in Week 3, when a bad 49ers offense took the Rams to the two minute warning in San Francisco, and the brink of their first win.

New York quarterback Eli Manning is not playing well behind a bad offensive line, and a weapon like Odell Beckham Jr. on the shelf. As written and kicked around on all manners of sports talk, blogs, what have you, the calls for Eli to be elsewhere except under center are already gathering momentum. A bad outing against the Rams will accelerate that.

Don’t forget, against a Cardinals team with better personnel, especially on offense, the Rams tossed a shutout. The Los Angeles defense smothered Larry Fitzgerald and newly acquired Adrian Peterson, and may have sent Carson Palmer to a likely early retirement.

Eli won’t retire after Week 9, but his offense won’t find the endzone either.

Look for the Rams defense to give up only a field goal or two, but keep the Giants touchdown free on Sunday.
