Thanks to a productive October, Los Angeles Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein has earned NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for October.

Back at the beginning of October, Los Angeles Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein came through with a record-breaking performance against the Dallas Cowboys after converting on all seven field goals to help his team pull off the epic 35-30 win on the road. Turns out, that was just the beginning of what turned out to be a memorable month for the Rams kicker, especially after Zuerlein received special recognition from the league for his elite play.

According to Rams Insider Myles Simmons, Zuerlein has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for October, which is impressive since Todd Gurley happened to take home honors on the offensive side of the football for the month of September. When looking at these awards Los Angeles players are earning, it’s no wonder Sean McVay‘s squad is considered one of the best teams in the NFC at the moment with a 5-2 start heading into a Week 9 meeting with the New York Giants.

As Simmons mentioned on Thursday, Zuerlein not only recorded 14 field goals to go along with nine extra points for the month of October, but on the season, the kicker is already an impressive 21 of 22, including three from beyond 50 yards. And for a player Los Angeles had some concerns over heading into the 2016 season, it’s amazing to see Zuerlein make the impact he has on special teams through seven games this year since there are plenty of other teams across the NFL dealing with frustrating issues at the kicker position.

When considering the Rams still have nine games remaining in the 2017 season, chances are Zuerlein is going to have little trouble with setting a new career high of converted field goals (26 made in 2013). Between Zuerlein’s ability to be consistent along with having arguably the best punter in the league with Johnny Hekker, it’s no wonder why Los Angeles is near the top of the league when it comes to special teams, and hopefully that continues for the final stretch of what has been a fascinating 2017 season.
