On a day the Los Angeles Rams needed extra help in the wide receiver department, Cooper Kupp came up big against the New Orleans Saints.
With Robert Woods expected to miss a few weeks due to a shoulder injury suffered last weekend against the Minnesota Vikings, the Los Angeles Rams were looking for numerous receivers to step up in the passing game against the New Orleans Saints in Week 12. Prior to the injury, Woods had worked his way into becoming one of the hottest targets for Jared Goff to work with in the passing game, and as much as Sammy Watkins stepped up by torching the Saints, it should also be noted that Cooper Kupp came up big as well on the Rams way to a 26-20 win.

One week after having a performance to forget against Minnesota that consisted of a costly fumble on the one-yard line, Kupp bounced back strong against New Orleans by recording his first 100-yard game of his NFL career by catching eight passes for 116 yards. Throughout his rookie season, the former Eastern Washington star has always been heavily targeted on a weekly basis by Goff in the passing game, but none of those games compare to the type of impact Kupp was able to make in Week 12 against the Saints.
Taking advantage of a banged-up defense of New Orleans that was missing Marshon Lattimore and Ken Crawley, Kupp’s performance on Sunday was the perfect example of why Los Angeles was excited to bring him on board back in April when they used a third-round pick on the rookie. Keep in mind that Kupp finished his college career with 428 catches for 6,464 yards to go along with 73 touchdowns, so it’s easy to understand why Goff is always trying to get him involved on offense as much as possible.

After a career day against New Orleans, one can only hope these kind of games will continue for Kupp moving forward, as Los Angeles looks to continue building their case for being one of the top teams to beat in the NFC. Losing to the Vikings was frustrating to deal with, but after Kupp and the Rams put an end to the eight-game wining streak of the Saints, Sean McVay‘s team has plenty of reasons to be feeling good heading into Week 13, especially since they still have a one-game lead on the Seattle Seahawks in the division standings.
