Los Angeles Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein is the first player in NFL history to win NFC Special Teams Player of the Month back-to-back times.
2017 has already been a year to remember for Los Angeles Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein when looking at how much of an impact he’s made on special teams, whether it involves the seven field goals converted against the Dallas Cowboys earlier in the season to earning NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for October. And speaking of Special Teams Player of the Month, it looks like the Rams kicker has taken home the honors for the month of November as well to make his mark in the NFL history books.

As the team site pointed out on Thursday, Zuerlein has now won the award for two months in a row after converting 11 of 12 field goal attempts (only missed a 63-yarder in Week 12) to go along with 12 of 12 extra-point attempts. Thanks to these accomplishments by Zuerlein, the kicker has now earned a place in NFL history by becoming the first player to take home the honors of Special Teams Player of the Month in the NFC twice in a row.
It was already amazing to see Zuerlein win the award back in October, but to see him follow up with another strong November proves just how valuable he’s been as a kicker for special teams throughout the 2017 season. In fact, without Zuerlein, the argument can be made that Los Angeles wouldn’t be sitting at 8-3 as the No. 3 seed in the NFC at the moment when looking at how many of their wins this year have been decided by single digits.

What makes this whole thing for Zuerlein even more amazing is there was a time last year when the Rams weren’t even sure if he was going to last as their kicker since they brought in a rookie during training camp to provide a little extra competition. Obviously, all of those doubts surounding Zuerlein have quickly gone out the door since he’s already crushed his previous career high of 26 field goals made with 32 heading into Week 13, and is on pace to set a few more records before the end of the year, which Los Angeles loves to see.
