Rams may need to prepare for two more games without Robert Woods

It looks like the Los Angeles Rams will have to wait a little longer for the return of Robert Woods on offense.
As if losing to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 11 wasn’t already frustrating enough for the Los Angeles Rams, the team also had to deal with the loss of Robert Woods after the wideout injured his shoulder in the contest, and was expected to miss a few weeks. When looking at how much Woods was beginning to heat up in the games leading up to the meeting against the Vikings, this injury was obviously a crushing blow to the Rams’ offense, especially since he was quickly becoming a favorite target to Jared Goff in the passing game.
Not to mention, one of the main reasons why Los Angeles was thrilled to land Woods in free agency was due to his blocking skills, so losing him for a few games was going to be a difficult adjustment. And while there seemed to be some hope that Woods could return for the big Week 14 showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles, it appears the team’s meeting with the Seattle Seahawks the following week seems more realistic, as ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez discussed on Friday.
On a positive note, last weekend’s game for the Rams against the New Orleans Saints was the perfect example of how there are plenty of other talented receivers willing to step up in Woods’ absence, ranging from Sammy Watkins to Cooper Kupp. Not to mention, Josh Reynolds took full advantage of the extra playing time by recording his first career NFL touchdown catch against the Saints after only having one reception to date leading up Week 12.

With that being said, it should also be noted that New Orleans was pretty banged up on defense since they were missing their top two cornerbacks, meaning the passing game of Los Angeles still has a lot to prove when it comes to being able to play without Woods. Then again, anything could happen after Sunday’s meeting against the Arizona Cardinals, and if Los Angeles is lucky, maybe Woods will figure out a way to recover quicker than expected so he can in fact suit up for that important game against Philadelphia, a matchup that could play a major role in the NFC playoff picture.
