Despite the loss, Cooper Kupp had the best game of his young career against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 14.
Prior to Week 14, the Los Angeles Rams had a strong feeling that Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles had the potential to turn into an offensive shootout, which was exactly the case. Unfortunately, the 35 points scored by Sean McVay‘s squad wasn’t enough in the 43-35 loss to the Eagles, but if there’s any positives to takeaway from the game, the career day by Cooper Kupp on offense may standout the most.
Two weeks ago, the former Eastern Washington star recorded his first career 100-yard receiving game against the New Orleans Saints after hauling in eight catches for 116 yards. And even though the outcome of that game was more meaningful since Kupp’s high level play helped the Rams come through on the winning end against the Saints, that doesn’t mean the rookie wideout shouldn’t be disappointed over being a headache for the Eagles’ defense throughout Sunday’s game.
From his 64-yard catch to finishing the game with five catches for 118 yards to go along with a score, Kupp’s performance against Philadelphia was the perfect example of why he was worth the third-round pick back in April’s NFL Draft. Entering the offseason, the Rams knew the only way to help Jared Goff elevate his game to a whole new level was to provide him with an improved receiving corps, and after making the questionable decision to pass on numerous receivers that were available in the second round, turns out the team knew what they were doing all along with Kupp.

Despite catching 428 passes for 6,464 yards to go along with 73 touchdowns during his four-year career in college with the Eagles, many wondered if Kupp would have what it takes to carry that success over to the NFL since he didn’t necessarily play for a big name school. It hasn’t even been a full season, but if he continues to make this kind of impact for Los Angeles on offense as a reliable weapon for Goff to work with, Kupp is going to turn into one of the biggest steals from this year’s draft class, and will most likely only get better with experience.
