Goff, Keenum, and Foles, 3 reasons former Rams coach Fisher won’t coach again
By Steve Rivera
Former Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher is eyeing a return to the NFL. I say Jared Goff, Case Keenum, and Nick Foles are three good reasons any GM would do best to look elsewhere.
The Los Angeles Rams are near the tail end of an epic run in the 2017 season, and one spectator, specifically former Los Angeles Rams coach Jeff Fisher, is likely as surprised as anyone.
Having said that, the idea that he’s looking at teams whom he’d like to coach in 2018 is patently laughable.
Rams starting quarterback Jared Goff, Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback Case Keenum, and backup/now starter Nick Foles in Philadelphia are three reasons Fisher should NOT be considered for a coaching gig in 2018 or any season thereafter.
I mean, seriously?
For the record, I was all in on Fisher when St. Louis relocated to Los Angeles. The Rams were looking to re-establish themselves in the city they had called home before bolting in 1994, and making a change under those circumstances didn’t seem the right thing to do.
Also, they’d just made the move up the draft order via a significant trade and selected Goff from California.
LA was hitting the reset button, and Fisher deserved to see it through.
Then the bottom fell out.
The Rams showed remarkable dysfunction and Fisher seemed ill equipped to “see if through.”
If Stan Kroenke had made the choice to bring Fisher back to try and right the ship this season, the Rams aren’t 10-4, the “bust” label may have stuck to Goff, and running back Todd Gurley isn’t having the season he is having today.
If one thing has become apparent, Foles, and most especially Keenum and Goff, should have a prominent asterisk next to their names that note having had been a part of a Fisher regime.

He was that bad, and buyer beware should be part of any discussion where Fisher is being considered.
I wish no ill will on the former Rams head coach, but he’s a relic who’s best days are long behind him.
Just look at his former starting quarterbacks who have their teams in first place, and he being nowhere near their current success.
