SEATTLE, WA – DECEMBER 17: Running back Todd Gurley

Even if you are NOT a Los Angeles Rams fan, it’s hard to ignore the MVP type season players and coaches on this team are having.

The three most talked about are the obvious:
-Running back Todd Gurley.
-Defensive tackle Aaron Donald.
-First year head coach Sean McVay.

These three, and certainly in their one unique but undeniable way, have aided in taking the Rams from laughable to contender in 12 months time.

McVay alone, and with all due respect to Doug Pederson of the Philadelphia Eagles or Mike Zimmer of the Minnesota Vikings should not just be the leading candidate but the winner hands down. What he inherited from Jeff Fisher was nothing short of a dysfunction times 100.

McVay turned that around, and despite whatever delusion Fisher allows himself to sleep better, is the guy who put the dumpster fire out and righted the ship.

As for Gurley, he’s on a remarkable run that has even a Tom Brady loving media wondering if the Patriots quarterback is only being given a lifetime achievement award, or is truly the better candidate than the Rams third year running back.

Gurley coming off of another monster performance, now leads the league in yards from scrimmage (2,093), total touchdowns (19), yards rushing (1,305), and rushing touchdowns (13).

He can add to that in Week 17 against a rising San Francisco team.
