Both Jared Goff and Todd Gurley took home Player of the Week honors from FedEx for helping the Los Angeles Rams defeat the Tennessee Titans in Week 16.
Between clinching the NFC West title for the first time since the 2003 season along with numerous starters finding out they will receive some extra rest this upcoming weekend against the San Francisco 49ers, it’s been quite an exciting last couple of days for the Los Angeles Rams. And with the start of the playoffs right around the corner, the Rams are being considered by many as a team nobody should want to play in January when looking at how dangerous Sean McVay‘s offense has looked as of late, especially when it comes to Jared Goff and Todd Gurley on offense.
As a surprise to no one, the offensive duo received a good amount of the blame for all of the struggles surrounding the team during their first year back in Los Angeles after finishing with a 4-12 record. But when taking all things into consideration, it was unfair to place the blame on Goff and Gurley since the Rams didn’t provide them with the best offensive line to work with, let alone the receiving corps was one of the weakest in the league. In other words, it’s easy to understand why Los Angles ranked dead last in the NFL last season by only averaging 14 points per game.
This time around, however, the Rams’ offense will enter the postseason as one of the most dangerous units in the NFL, as both Goff and Gurley have benefitted in a big way from playing in McVay’s system. Just look at how Week 16 against Tennessee turned out for this offensive duo as their performances were good enough to help them both take home FedEx Player of the Week honors, which is quite impressive.
It’s not everyday a pair of teammates playing on the same side of the football are fortunate to take home honors like this in the same week, but also there aren’t as many duos in the NFL like Goff and Gurley. While Goff did his part through the air by completing 22 of 38 passes for 301 yards with four touchdowns, Gurley made every single one of his fantasy football owners by recording 276 yards from the line of scrimmage to go along with two scores.

With these numbers, it’s no wonder why Los Angeles is drawing such high praise for having the talent to make a run at the Super Bowl. As long as Goff and Gurley carry this momentum over into January, that Super Bowl run could very well happen for the Rams.
