The Los Angeles Rams and their second string look like a backup as the San Francisco 49ers open up a 20-6 halftime lead.
The Los Angeles Rams and head coach Sean McVay made the command decision to sit their starters. So far, if winning isn’t your thing, the San Francisco 49ers leading 20-6 just isn’t a big deal.
Or should it be?
Rams second string quarterback Sean Mannion is offering only a pedestrian performance, completing 12 passes on 22 attempts for 118 yards. Meanwhile, Niners quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is 12-20, for 188 yards, 1 touchdown, and two interceptions.
So, did head coach Sean McVay make the right call in sitting his starters, including his quarterback, Jared Goff?
Only time will tell.
But getting s look at the depth chart this far doesn’t make anyone feel better about what is on field through two quarters of football.
Also, it will remain to be seen if sitting becomes a disruption to what the Rams have built over 15 games.

As for San Francisco, the chance to notch a win against a division rival to wrap up tne 2017 regular season sends the Niners out on a high point, regardless of what happens with the Rams. The 49ers look to have solved their quarterback issues meaning they’ll target elsewhere come the 2018 NFL Draft.
For Todd Gurley, it’s also one last game to make any argument for a league MVP title, although McVay still looks to be a solid bet for NFL Coach of the Year.

Should San Francisco hang on for a win, the Rams will move to 11-5 on the season.
A far cry from the dismal 4-12 they posted in 2016. Still a long way to go for the Rams.
