If Sean McVay’s first season is any indication, the future is bright for the Los Angeles Rams.

Around this time last year, the Los Angeles Rams and their fans were left scratching their heads wondering how on earth the team looked as awful as they did during the 2016 season after only winning four games. Luckily, the Rams ended up taking a huge risk by making Sean McVay the youngest head coach in NFL history, and as everyone knows, this was the best decision the organization ever could have made.

Between helping the team make NFL history by going from worst to first in scoring to beating out the Seattle Seahawks for the NFC West title, Los Angeles had plenty to be proud of during their first season with McVay as head coach. Sure, the earlier than expected loss to the Atlanta Falcons in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs was a tough pill to swallow when looking at the expectations surrounding this team, but also, this was a clear example of how bright the future is for the Rams for the first time in what seems like forever.

Watching this young team make the serious leap to become serious contenders in the NFC this season is hopefully just the beginning of what the future has in store during the McVay era since Los Angeles seems like they’re going to be in great shape for years to come. After gaining some much needed experience in both the regular and postseason, what the Rams went through this past year should be used as a learning experience to help benefit the team moving forward.

It’s hard to believe that Friday marks the one-year anniversary of Los Angeles hiring McVay, and when looking back at the early reactions over the move, it’s safe to say nobody expected this type of success so quickly from the offensive mastermind. One year ago, the Rams were an absolute mess, and appeared to be at least another two or three years away from being contenders. Now, Los Angeles will head into their offseason drawing consideration for being one of the top teams to compete for a Super Bowl heading into the 2018 season, and it’s all thanks to McVay.
