You know that ESPN will have former color man Jon Gruden on Monday Night Football. That is an absolute lock, or at least should be.

Gruden and his Oakland Raiders will host the Los Angeles Rams in 2018. If someone putting together the MNF grid is smart, and if history is an indicator, ESPN should have their second of two opening night games in the Bay Area featuring the Rams and the Raiders in the nightcap.
I mean, what better way to kick off Gruden’s second act in Oakland, than against a coach who was once on his Tampa Bay staff?

Can’t you already see the split-screen cutaways of both guys with the headphones on and a laminated game plans concealing their face on a play call?

It’s also smart TV with ESPN desperately needing a compelling Monday Night game, and THIS one would fits the bill.

Plus come on, it’s the opening Monday Night of 17 NFL weeks.

Gruden will certainly dictate a lot of attention in his return to Oakland, and bet on NBC and ESPN wanting to get him on their schedule. If Chucky can get that ship righted quickly, the Raiders will be a great story on their way to Las Vegas.

Bottom line, Rams-Raiders would kill on the ESPN Monday Night Football opening weekend double header.
