Don’t look now, but if a five game winning streak is any indication, the San Francisco 49ers might be a challenger to the Los Angeles Rams for division supremacy in 2018.

Now hold on super fan, NO, a five game winning streak isn’t an immediate sign that the 49ers are ready to overtake first place in the division, nor does it mean that Jimmy Garoppolo is the next Joe Montana.

He’s not. But don’t forget that in the last two seasons, the Rams are 1-3 against their California neighbors to the north.

1-3.

Is that an indication that San Francisco has LA’s number?

Not at all.

However, should these two team be 1 & 2 heading into the last week of the 2018 season with an NFC West title on the line, AND the schedule has these two in Week 17, you hope that the NFL doesn’t screw up one last prime-time opportunity to put the Rams in a season finale with a bunch on the line.

A San Francisco team either hosting OR on the road against the Rams for all the division marbles would be great TV.

Especially in an NFL season finale where all eyes are on these two division rivals.

It’s also a chance to maybe have two of the league’s best and youngest quarterbacks with a TV audience all to themselves.
