. Linebacker. Virginia Tech. Tremaine Edmunds. 20. player. 50

At the end of the day, the Detroit Lions have nobody to blame other than themselves for missing out on the playoffs one year after earning a Wild Card spot since there was a time in which they controlled their own postseason destiny. Not to mention, the Lions failed to take advantage of an off year by the Green Bay Packers in which they didn’t live up to expectations after Aaron Rodgers went down at one point with a broken collarbone.

For the most part, Detroit’s main focus over the next few months will be on the defensive side of the football since that’s going to be the only way to take down teams like the Packers and Minnesota Vikings, who ended up winning the NFC North title. And as tempting as it will be to spend a first-round pick on improving the defensive line, don’t be surprised if the Lions end up using the 20th pick on a linebacker.

When looking at some of the top prospects from the position, a skill set like Tremaine Edmunds almost seems too good to be true for a team like Detroit. Plenty of teams would love to have a linebacker like the Virginia Tech product, and if the Lions pass on him, it could be one of those decisions they end up regretting.
