2018 NFL Mock Draft: Los Angeles Rams select Donte Jackson first round

Similar to the Giants with Manning, the Indianapolis Colts understand that Frank Gore isn’t getting any younger, and at some point, they’re going to have to replace him with someone younger at running back. Over the years, players like Ezekiel Elliott and Leonard Fournette have been the rare exception when it comes to using a high draft pick on a running back when seeing their careers don’t tend to last as long, but Saquon Barkley is simply too talented of a player to pass on outside the top five.
Watching a duel threat like Barkley during his final year at Penn State was amazing from a football perspective when seeing all of the times he single-handedly took over games, whether it was from a big run or key kickoff return. When looking at all of the struggles surrounding the Colts in general on offense, Barkley is one of those players who could make an immediate impact right away in multiple ways, just like Elliott and Fournette has done over the last two years.
Barkley should have little trouble finding the necessary holes to explode for big plays at the NFL level just like he has over the years as a member with the Nittany Lions. Indianapolis has numerous areas in need of improvement on both sides of the football, but passing on Barkley would be a mistake if he’s available.
