2018 NFL Mock Draft: Los Angeles Rams select Donte Jackson first round
By Dan Parzych
When it comes to the list of most disappointing teams from this season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rank right near the top when considering many expected Dirk Koetter and company to make the leap to being serious contenders in the NFC. Instead, the Buccaneers went on to win just five games, and will spend the next few months trying to make the necessary adjustments to improve on the defensive side of the football, or Koetter could be out of a job around this time next year.
Defensive end or cornerback are two of the top positions Tampa Bay will most likely focus on in the first round, which is why Ohio State’s Denzel Ward seems like he would be the perfect fit for this defense. Between his speed along with ability to lock down receivers, Ward seems capable of eventually becoming a No. 1 cornerback at the NFL level if his final year with the Buckeyes is any indication of what to expect.
Assuming the offense can bounce back after failing to live up to the hype following the addition of DeSean Jackson playing alongside Mike Evans, the Buccaneers could end up having one of the top overall teams in 2018 if they fix these key issues on the defensive side of the football. As for whether Ward will be part of those plans, only time will tell.
