Rumors being what they are, the idea of Quarterback Kirk Cousins landing with the Arizona Cardinals may be a longshot, and fans of the Los Angeles Rams should hope it stays that way.

Where Kirk Cousins ends up is still anybody’s guess, but one location being rumored is the Arizona Cardinals, which means the Los Angeles Rams could be facing the three best quarterbacks in the NFL.

Russell WilsonSeattle Seahawks.
Jimmy GaroppoloSan Francisco 49ers.
And maybe, just maybe, Captain Kirk in the desert with the Arizona Cardinals.

and of course the Rams have Jared Goff.

Could happen.

Thus far, the “still could be Washington Redskins QB” has been linked to the Jets, Broncos, Vikings, and the outside chance of Arizona.

Don’t kid yourself. Cousins with the Cardinals adds a new wrinkle the the NFC West, making an already difficult run for the Rams repeating as division champions more difficult.

It would also means that Los Angeles could be in the toughest division in the National Football League.

Right now, you’d like the Rams and 49ers probably 1-2 (in no particular order), with Seattle and Arizona rounding out how the West would probably finish in 2018.

Already, the addition of Garoppolo has improved the quality of the division. Adding Cousins does the exact same thing.

The Cardinals still seem like a long shot to earn the services of Captain Kirk. Arizona already has a long row to hoe with the retirement of Carson Palmer. They’ll be selecting 15 overall in the first round, and one name getting floated is Lamar Jackson from Louisville. Even with that pick, the Cardinals look thin with options where a starting quarterback is concerned.

Jackson might be the future, whereas a veteran like Cousins gives Arizona a chance to win and compete now.

Either way, the quarterback talent in the NFC West is deep, and with two young guns like Garoppolo for the Niners and Goff for the Rams, those two may dictate who wins and who doesn’t in the division.

Cousins in Arizona could change that.
