24. Arizona Cardinals
Due to the surprise retirement of Carson Palmer, the Arizona Cardinals entered the offseason with some questions at the quarterback position since Drew Stanton, who ended up signing with the Browns in free agency, hadn’t done enough to convince the team he deserved to be the starter. While Sam Bradford certainly has the potential to be the answer for at least the 2018 season, the argument can be made that spending $20 million on a quarterback with an unfortunate history of injuries seems a bit ridiculous.
When the time comes to call it a career, Bradford will be considered one of the most unaccomplished quarterbacks with the most money after seeing all of the ridiculous contracts he’s made over the course of his career. No matter how desperate the Cardinals were for a quarterback, the team would have been better off spending all that money elsewhere while considering the possibility of landing a top prospect from this year’s draft class.
Competing in the NFC West isn’t going to be easy when seeing how the Rams are looking like a Super Bowl contender while the San Francisco 49ers seem ready to make the leap to serious contender. For Arizona’s sake, let’s hope Bradford can stay healthy to give the team a fighting chance in the division, or it’s going to be a third year in a row of missing out on the playoffs for this team.
