Los Angeles Rams: No need for Dez Bryant, despite comments from wideout

PHILADELPHIA, PA - DECEMBER 31: Wide receiver Dez Bryant

Despite recent comments from Dez Bryant, the Los Angeles Rams don’t need to go after the former Dallas Cowboys wideout.

Over the last few months, the Los Angeles Rams have been keeping themselves busy by adding all sorts of new talent on both sides of the football, with one of the latest moves involving the acquisition of Brandin Cooks from the New England Patriots. Seeing the Rams quickly become an attractive team for players to join with their increased odds to win the Super Bowl has been truly amazing to witness, but when it comes to Dez Bryant, this is a move that seems unnecessary to even consider.

After the Dallas Cowboys decided to part ways with the veteran wideout on Friday to save up a some money in the salary cap department, it will only be a matter of time before Bryant finds a new home for the 2018 season. In fact, Cowboys beat reporter Mike Fisher recently discussed with Bryant about potential fits for teams that, ranging from the Houston Texans to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Believe it or not, Los Angeles was apparently on the list as well, although this doesn’t necessarily mean the Rams would consider the possibility. Here’s what Bryant had to say about the possibility of joining a young team on the rise in the Rams, courtesy of Fisher’s article.

"Bryant is very specific here. Loves the city. Loves the direction of the team. “The QB (Jared Goff) is going to be special and (Todd Gurley) is a beast,” he says. “(Newly-acquired Brandin) Cooks is a good deep threat. That’d be fun.”And of course, most players like L.A."

Obviously, Bryant is right on the money when it comes to praising the talent of guys like Jared Goff and Todd Gurley. But when looking at their current situation at receiver along with the money that Bryant will most likely be asking for, this is one of those situations that just doesn’t seem worth it for the Rams.

Not to mention, one of the main reasons why Dallas was willing to move on from Bryant was due to his numbers declining over the last couple of seasons, and all of that money being spent was going to complete to waste. So while Bryant may love the possibility of suiting up for the NFC West champions, this is situation the Rams need to completely avoid, and not even make it a potential option since Sean McVay has plenty of reasons to be satisfied over his current group of receivers he gets to work with.
