After the draft, are the Rams still a slam dunk for a division title?

The Los Angeles Rams are still the class of the NFC West, but after the 2018 NFL Draft, has anyone closed that gap?

It’s still early for the Los Angeles Rams, but the NFC West looks to have improved AFTER the 2018 NFL Draft, leaving some to wonder if a second consecutive division title is an absolute lock as previously thought.

Should be, but a lot will happen between now and then. That said, whatever distance existed between teams like Los Angeles and the San Francisco 49ers, or the Rams against Arizona or Seattle, saw some additional wrinkles added.

If you had to pick one team one day after the draft, it would be Arizona that looks to be nudging ahead on the interest meter, whereas it looked to be the Niners who were most curious heading into 2018.

One thing fans can absolutely look forward to is knowing teams like Seattle and the Cardinals won’t necessarily slip into the full-blown mode of rebuilding, and for the sake of the West, that is a very good thing.

A month ago, heck even a week ago, games against the Seahawks and Arizona weren’t absolute walk-overs, but they seemed a pretty good bet.

No so much now.

The Cardinals will be interesting to watch. And as I’ve written, while it’s hard to see them contending, they will give teams in the NFC West a good run come Game Day.

Los Angeles, who is still the head and shoulders best team in the division, will still see it’s greatest obstacle to a second consecutive title come from its in state rival. Don’t count on San Francisco to be the 2017 49ers. They will be better on the offense line, and certainly better over 16 games at quarterback.

Meaning a split against the Niners will be an absolute gift.

Post draft, the Los Angeles Rams may still be the class of the 2018 NFC West, but the challengers inside the division won’t be going down easy.
