Watch this amazing video of the Los Angeles Rams calling John Kelly during the 2018 NFL Draft.

To say emotions ran high for some players selected in the 2018 NFL Draft would be a huge understatement after seeing all of the reactions from over the weekend, some of which came from the newest members of the Los Angeles Rams. Without question, one of the new rookies for the Rams to be most excited about is Tennessee’s John Kelly, as the running back is expected to compete with Malcolm Brown and Justin Davis for time in the backfield as a backup to Todd Gurley.

Obviously, a selection like this won’t give Gurley any reason for concern since Los Angeles is thrilled more than ever to see how their star running back follows up his monster 2017 season in which he finished second to Tom Brady for the MVP award. If anything, the addition of a rookie like Kelly will only benefit Gurley in the backfield to take off some additional pressure of feeling like he needs to be in every down.

After trading away their picks from the first two rounds, Los Angeles was quite busy on the final day of the draft, and even had four picks in the sixth round, one of which happened to be Kelly. Without question, Kelly is the kind of running back fans will be rooting for once training camp rolls around to earn one of the spots on the 53-man roster, and when seeing the video of the Rams calling the running back about his selection in the draft, it will make them love him even more.

Just hearing the emotions in Kelly’s voice shows how much he appreciates the opportunity to join a team in Los Angeles, as all of that hard work over the years has finally paid off. Even if Kelly still has quite the long way to go when looking at the competition he has to deal with to compete for a backup spot to Gurley, the former Volunteers star has plenty of reasons to feel confident at the moment.

Keep in mind that Los Angeles never would have considered the possibility of Kelly if they didn’t believe he was capable of making this team better. With the draft officially over, it’s only a matter of time before Kelly and the rest of his new teammates are taking part in training camp a few months from now, which means the Rams will be that much closer to the 2018 season.
