The Los Angeles Rams enter the month of May loaded for success and a run at a second division title. But is there a team who may interrupt that order in the NFC West?
With the 2018 NFL Draft and bulk of free agency squarely in the rearview mirror, the Los Angeles Rams are facing a much different NFC West than it did when the 2017 season concluded.
Heck, it’s a much different division from just a week ago.
That’s not a bad thing, fans.
But what the first impressions might have been when the Rams rocketed to the top of the West, passing perennial winner Seattle in the process, most assumed that Los Angeles was an absolute lock to be the odds-on favorite for the foreseeable future.
Not so fast.
This isn’t to imply the Rams won’t be as good as they were last year, as they likely will. But one year later, LA won’t be an unknown commodity on the NFL landscape. And for all their efforts in free agency, and having a very balanced draft, they aren’t the only team in the division who has improved.
Three of the four teams in the NFC West are better today, at least on paper, than they were when April began.
All three are posed for a better 2018, while only the Seahawks look to have remained relatively flat, and maybe even took a step back.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again; the NFC West will be the best division in the NFL, and at the very least, the most interesting to watch.
So will the Rams repeat as West champs?
In this division, the best team will show itself sooner rather than later.
Here are five early predictions.
