During a recent interview, instead of naming the Los Angeles Rams as a potential landing spot, Adrian Peterson made a comment about St. Louis being a good fit.

After watching Todd Gurley finish second in the MVP race last season behind Tom Brady after finishing with 2,093 yards from the line of scrimmage to go along with 19 total touchdowns, the Los Angeles Rams appear to be set at running back for years to come. However, when it comes to the backup situation behind Gurley, the argument can be made there’s some uncertainty at the moment.

While players like Malcolm Brown and rookie John Kelly are strong candidates for the No. 2 role at running back, the Rams know nothing is guaranteed at the moment, and things could quickly change.

In fact, when looking at how the last couple of months have been in Los Angeles, this team has proven on numerous occasions that nothing should be ruled out, even when it comes to the thought of Adrian Peterson.

Yes, the chances of the veteran running back ending up with the Rams may seem like a long shot at the moment, but during a recent interview on ESPN’s NFL Live, Peterson actually named the team as a good potential fit.

Good fit or not, the running back actually slipped by saying St. Louis being a good fit instead of Los Angeles, which sadly still happens more often than most football fans would think.

As good of a laugh as this was since the Rams are entering their third year back in Los Angeles, just because Peterson believes he would make a good fit doesn’t mean it’s likely to happen.

If anything, Sean McVay and the Rams would most likely prefer to focus on using younger players like Brown or Kelly for the backup role since they have a better chance to be around for the long run.

Not to mention, Gurley has already proven to be an absolute workhorse in the backfield, and will most likely only come off the field when necessary, meaning there’s always the risk of Peterson being unhappy with a reduced role.

Since Peterson to Los Angeles seems like an absolute long shot, at least Rams fans were able to enjoy a good laugh by hearing the running back list St. Louis as a potential fit for the 2018 season. There was a time in which a team like the Rams would love the thought of Peterson coming on board, but those days are long gone, and the team has plenty of reasons to be excited over the potential surrounding their current situation at running back.
