The Los Angeles Rams can’t afford to delay potential extensions with Brandin Cooks and Aaron Donald heading into June.

Without question, the Los Angeles Rams have been considered one of the biggest winners of the 2018 offseason when looking at some of the key additions made on both sides of the football.

After making a surprise playoff run last season, the Rams have been all-in this offseason to make a strong case for being a serious Super Bowl contender, which of course is always easier said than done.

While the defensive side of the football has been highlighted by a new duo at cornerback in Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters, one of the biggest surprises on the offensive side of the football has been Brandin Cooks.

As tough it was to lose Sammy Watkins in free agency, Los Angeles seems like they’re going to be better off with Cooks in the long run after acquiring the speedster from the New England Patriots.

Right away, Les Snead made it clear that the team’s goal was to eventually work out an extension with Cooks before the start of the regular season, which unfortunately has yet to happen. So when taking this into consideration along with the fact that Aaron Donald is still waiting for a new deal as well, fans can’t help but wonder what on earth the Rams are thinking.

Yes, the argument can be made for Donald that Los Angeles may be waiting until other big-name players like Khalil Mack receive new deals of their own, but it’s at a point in the offseason where this is getting difficult to be patient about.

Instead of waiting around to see what happens across the league, the Rams should be focused on making sure key players like Donald and Cooks are taken care of well in advance to avoid any sort of drama down the road.

For obvious reasons, Cooks isn’t going to holdout since he hasn’t even played a single snap in a game for Los Angeles, but when it comes to Donald, Rams fans remember all too well what happened last summer.

Everything may have worked out fine eventually with Donald showing up, but Los Angeles shouldn’t count on that happening again if they refuse to address an extension he clearly deserves for a second year in a row. So instead of leaving fans wondering about when these extensions are finally going to happen for Donald and Cooks, can’t the Rams just take care of them already?
