Despite finishing second in the MVP race last year, Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley was left off PFF’s list of top 50 players for the 2018 season.

Earlier this week, the popular topic of discussion surrounding Todd Gurley was how the Los Angeles Rams running back was taking the correct approach of focusing on the 2018 season instead of living in the past.

After recording 2,093 yards from the line of scrimmage to go along with 19 touchdowns in 2017, Gurley not only helped the Rams pull the unthinkable by winning the NFC West, but also finished in the MVP voting to Tom Brady.

As great as it was to finish as a runner up, the most important factor surrounding Gurley’s success is the former Georgia star was able to help Los Angeles make NFL history by going from worst to first in scoring.

In fact, without Gurley in the mix, the argument can be made that the Rams never would have emerged as a serious contender in the NFC the way they did.

Now, the question becomes whether Los Angeles has what it takes to pick up where they left off while living up to the pressure of being a serious contender in the NFC, although Gurley’s presence certainly gives them a better chance to make it happen.

It’s amazing to see just how fast Gurley has worked his way into becoming one of the league’s most explosive players in the league, and seeing him finish second to Mr. Brady for the MVP award shows how special of a star he truly is.

With that being said, some Rams fans believe their beloved running back got the raw end of the deal when PFF released their list of the top 50 NFL players for the upcoming season, and Gurley didn’t even make the cut.

Obviously, Los Angeles fans were thrilled to see Aaron Donald sitting on top of the list when looking at how much of a nightmare he’s been for opponents, but it was still surprising to see Gurley left off after all of his 2017 accomplishments.

Even if PFF uses a specific way of ranking players, Rams fans a top 50 list would have made Gurley at least a lock for one of the positions.

Then again, maybe Gurley will use this snub as motivation to breakout with another monster season so when the time comes around this time next year, it will be an easy decision to have him on the list.
