It may just be business, but Aaron Donald being absent is glaring for the Rams

The Los Angeles Rams and Aaron Donald may as well be on other planets this offseason.

A lot has been and will continue to be written about the Los Angeles Rams and Aaron Donald. Donald, who has entered into that predictable place of superstar not being paid enough versus team who needs to pay, has provided LA with that glaring omission that is topic one when so much else is being missed.

As many fans know, begrudgingly, this how the sausage gets made in the National Football League.

It was picture day, media type stuff this week that had No. #99 nowhere to be found. It’s the question no one has an answer to, and the resolution that looks to be nowhere on the horizon.

Yes I know, it’s how business is done.

But let’s not forget that this is the third offseason in Los Angeles, and the second one where AD is not part of the ramp up to Rams football.

That’s right. This season that has ALL the leading indicators pointing towards a magical kind of run, something of a charmed season waiting on deck, and the best defensive player on the planet is not part of the hoopla.

He’s waiting, like everyone else in the NFL world, to see all the numbers come in.

It’s not all on the Rams, but certainly most of it is. I mean, does anyone think that LA is getting this right? As the days, weeks, and now months wear on, how high is that trust level that Los Angeles doesn’t have this get sideways?

So while social media was littered with all the good feelz of star players in the Rams blue and gold throwbacks, it rang remarkably hollow as Donald was on the other side of the country, training on his own, for a season that is filled with all the potential of a season that could be special.

Given how this has all gone, AD could have been training on the dark side of the moon, waiting like the rest of us to see how all this eventually plays out.
