Neither of the two best players for the Los Angeles Rams were able to knock Tom Brady from his lofty perch.

The two best players for the Los Angeles Rams were again made aware of the never ending super-hype that keeps Tom Brady at the front of the line.

Brady-MVP.
Brady-Top Player NFL 100.
Rinse, repeat.

Sigh. I’ve seen this show before, as have fans for what seems like forever.

The New England Patriots poster boy who is the constant recipient of adoration and endless praise, was atop the latest Top Whatever List. This time, it was the Top 10 of a Top 100 compilation. Rams running back Todd Gurley, who was the Offensive Player of the Year, and defensive tackle Aaron Donald, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, finishing sixth and seventh respectively.

Surprised?
Don’t be.

The New England pretty boy has long been celebrated, slobbered over, and hyped with over the top praise.

Most, but not all is deserved.

But while an acknowledged parity has allowed the National Football League to have a lot of teams besides the Patriots win a Lombardi Trophy, Tommy Terrific seems to enjoy these accolades with too much frequency.

But hey, that me.

I do think the rankings placed Donald way to low, but I’ll concede I’m more than OK with Gurley at his spot.

This list also confirms the yawn that the quarterback remains the most over-coveted position in the game, keeping a player the caliber of Donald, out of the top spot.

I’d also say it shows a closed-mindedness to those who continue to heap these sensational accolades on Brady. I mean even Gurley was a more deserving MVP than Brady was last season, given his role in reviving the left for dead Rams franchise.

So again, LA has two of their best players slotted lower that what seems logical and reasonable, and as usual, Brady runs the table representing a team quickly on the fade.

If the Rams go on a deep playoff run, thus managing to cut into the sloppy love the media lavishes the Pats with, players like Gurley and Donald may finally get their due.
