While Los Angeles Rams fans knew Todd Gurley and Aaron Donald would be in the top 10 of the NFL Top 100, it was still surprising to see their landing spots.

Over the last week or so, Los Angeles Rams fans were excited to see where Todd Gurley and Aaron Donald would end up in the NFL Top 100 for the 2018 season, especially when it was revealed the two stars would end up in the top 10.

In fact, there was even some speculation that Gurley or Donald could end up in the No. 1 spot when looking at the impact both players made for the Rams during the 2017 season, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.

While Gurley (first timer) came in at No. 6 on the list, Donald posted his highest rank at No. 7 after coming in at No. 15 a year ago.

Clearly, Los Angeles has plenty of reasons to be thrilled to see two of their best players honored this high in the rankings, but also the argument can be made they deserve to be higher.

After seeing how players like Carson Wentz and Le’Veon Bell finished higher on the list, it’s easy to understand why some fans believe Gurley and Donald deserved to be higher on the list, especially after everything they had to overcome last season.

For Donald, the former Pittsburgh standout continues to make a case for being one of the league’s top defensive players after recording 11 sacks along with five forced fumbles in 14 games last season, despite all of the extra attention received from opposing defenders.

As for Gurley, the running back was one of the players that benefitted the most from Sean McVay’s new system after finishing with 2,093 yards from the line of scrimmage to go along with 19 touchdowns.

For a player that failed to record a single 100-yard rushing game the year before, it was still amazing to see Gurley end up as high as he did on the NFL Top 100, although it would have been great to see him higher.

Then again, the most important factor is Los Angeles is finally receiving the recognition they deserve after last year’s surprise success in which they won the NFC West title out of nowhere. Assuming Gurley and Donald continue to play at a high level, the Rams are going to continue being in great shape for the 2018 season.
